I’ve had the privilege to support several women who were grieving a lost mate after a number of years of marriage and who were in the latter stages of the grief process.

Grieving a lost mate

One of the hardest and most emotionally draining experiences we can face is the death of a spouse or partner. Whether it was expected or happened suddenly, either case can cause emotional trauma that greatly impacts lives. During grieving, there is an emotional and physical contraction which can isolate and suppress personality and candor that would normally be present. Eventually, as the sufferer reaches the later stages of grief, a desire to regain composure and return to a ‘normal life’ arises, prompting a moving forward towards recovery and an ability to face the world again.

Discovering Who You Are Again

Those who grieve feel that life will never be the same. They feel there will never be another who loves them like their lost mate did. Many sufferers also feel their identity has been torn apart and that they will never be the same person again. When ready for it, detangling or unwinding the threads of identity and selfhood after the loss of a spouse makes it possible to move forward. Those able to do so find a newly recognized and more together sense of self that often has a new-found purpose in life. By reclaiming the pieces of oneself tied to the lost relationship and personal presence in your life produces a sense of wholeness and empowerment.

Getting Help with Recovering

Women who have reached the ‘Acceptance’ stage of grieving a lost mate (and/or with some ‘Depression’ stage residue) will contact me for support in figuring out and reclaiming their sensual embodiment, sexuality, and relationship with their body—post spouse.

Applying the practices and techniques that I share with clients makes completing the grieving process easier and helps with discovering a new you based on a deeper awareness of who you are after your experience of grieving.

Skype/Zoom or in-person Sessions

Most of my work is via Skype/Zoom coaching sessions with women from all over the world. For some local women, or those who travel to No. California, in-person sessions provide emotional, energetic, and somatic relief which aids in processing grief and is an opportunity to work with the body in releasing blocked emotions and energy and reconnect to the sensual self and sexual energy again.

For some women who are ready for it, sensual body work helps them heal further and more completely, and can be a way to transcend the past and prime their sexual energy for future possibilities.
